Felicia Chang – My placement

“Whilst at Schneider Electric, I worked on a 12 week research and development project entitled 10BASE-2 to Open Alliance BroadR-Reach (OABR) Migration. The project was a proof of concept for OABR technology as a viable alternative protocol to 10BASE-2 over coaxial cable, providing a 100 Mbps connection. The project provided an opportunity to gain specific technical knowledge about Ethernet technology that is not covered in my university course, as well as gaining practical skills associated with hardware engineering. The independent nature of the placement allowed me to take ownership of my project, whilst experiencing the working environment of the company. Throughout the project I was guided by a number of the engineers at the company, who were always willing to discuss the issues I was facing. The team encouraged me to explore ideas and solutions of my own accord, which helped me to develop highly transferable problem-solving and communication skills.”
